BETTY LYNCH

Betty Kelly Lynch was born in Clonmel, on the banks of the river Suir in Co. Tipperary  in 1939.  She went to the Loreto Convent School where Music, Poetry and Song were greatly appreciated and taught with love.

She spent a year at the Commercial School in Eccles St., Dublin with the Dominican Order and then joined the Provincial Bank in Limerick.  After a short banking career of just four years she married Michael Lynch in 1962 and moved to Mitchelstown, Co. Cork where Michael worked with the Bank of Ireland. They had four children David, John, Peter and Ann.  In 1969 she moved to Tipperary Town with Michael and family where they’ve lived ever since.

When the children left home Betty studied Tai Chi and Sacred Circle Dancing and embarked on a journey of self-discovery.  It was then, when she had time and space her creative energy came out to dance.

Betty calls herself a Primitive Poet and Artist because what she does just comes naturally to her.  Her work is the result of a natural process of writing and composing.  Betty also works with voice also and has trained a choir, her beloved Tipperary Singers for 36 years and continues to do so.

Presently, she is compiling her first book of poetry with the encouragement and support of many close friends and family.  She hopes 2008 will see this work come to fruition ~ so watch this space!
